The 2008 Geography Lecture will take place in St Mary's University College at 7.30pm on Tuesday 29th April.
Nobel Peace Prize recipient, Professor John Sweeney, will unravel the myths about climate change in Northern Ireland. A climatologist from the Geography Department at National University of Ireland Maynooth, Professor Sweeney shared the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize with fellow climatologists as one of the contributing authors and review editors of the recently published Fourth Assessment Report of the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
He leads a research programme into the impact of climate change, including the production of climate scenarios for Ireland. His lecture, Climate Change in Northern Ireland: Fact, Fiction, Our Future?, will begin at 7.30 in Lecture Theatre 2.
