15 May 2008

Kerstin Simberg, Library Director, and Nilla Nyberg, Librarian at Gotland University Library in Sweden will visit St Mary's on 19 May during a three day visit to Northern Ireland.

Gotland University is the smallest University in Sweden, situated on the island of Gotland, in the Baltic Sea. About half of its students are distance learning students.

The university is planning to change its model of teaching towards 'Liberal Education /Liberal Arts Education' and the librarians are keen to visit some universities and colleges in Europe in order to learn about libraries in that kind of environment.

During their time at St Mary's it is hoped that they can learn about the work and organization of the College library, how students and researchers use the facilities and the level of contact and support provided.
