Catherine Fitzpatrick, who was shortlisted by The Undergraduate Awards last week in the Teacher Education category, has gone on to win in her field for her piece “An Examination of how a School in Northern Ireland is Meeting the Academic and Social Needs of Newcomer Pupils”.

Catherine will receive her medal at the UA Global Summit, taking place across Dublin from 13-15 November. The three-day event will see the top students in twenty-two disciplines, from all over the world, gather in the city for a celebration of the most innovative and convincing arguments coming out of undergraduate research globally, as well as displaying the top pieces of creativity produced at undergraduate level.

Catherine’s essay was one of almost 4000 pieces of coursework submitted to The Undergraduate Awards this year, from 182 third-level institutions internationally. The Undergraduate Awards is the only international pan-discipline academic awards programme in the world, in operation across the island of Ireland since 2009 and operating globally since 2011. It aims to recognize the best students in the world and to connect them to one another so as to encourage inter-disciplinary co-operation that also transcends borders.
