Bekescsaba, Hungary; June 2014
The “Intercultural Dialogue” Erasmus Intensive Programme was held in Bekescsaba, Hungary, from 14 -28 June 2014. This two-week event is entitled “Exploring the Application of Intercultural Dialogue as Global Citizens in a Changing World” and looked at how different cultural and educational groups reflect on citizenship in the European Union.
There were sixty successful students from six participating European and United States universities and twelve international academics. Participating institutions worked to investigate and evaluate the application of intercultural dialogue as an everyday life and work practice, recognising that it builds capacity for learning about global issues and community development and fosters inclusive values and practices in the face of growing diversity. It also prioritised the study of identifying and evaluating the relationship between global issues and local lives, including themes related to conflict, resilience, diversity, social justice and eco-justice.
This Intensive Programme was the longest running and highest scoring in the history of the European Union’s Erasmus programme.
