Michael Ellis Trophy Challenge

7 October 2014

On Saturday, 4 October the latest in a round of challenge soccer matches took place for the Michael Ellis Trophy. The trophy was established by the St Mary’s Staff Association Soccer Team with a commissioned piece from the Art Department where Michael worked. Michael was a long-standing member of the College staff who sadly passed away last year.

The match on Saturday was the latest in a round of matches between teams for whom Michael would have played or with whom he would have had an association. This match was between St Veronica’s from Burnley and Intermore from Dunmurry. Intermore defeated St Veronica’s by 7-4 and currently hold the trophy. The next match will be early in the new year between the College Staff Association’s team and Intermore. Proceeds from the match went to a number of homeless charities. The trophy will be on permanent display in the College.
