On Tuesday, 8 December 2015, St Mary’s Students' Union Vice-President, Aidan Forker, and final-year student, Simon Lam, flew to London to join the #CutTheCosts Westminster lobby. They travelled alongside other student leaders from Queen’s University and Ulster University Students’ Unions under the direction of National Union of Students–Union of Students in Ireland (NUS-USI). The aim of the event was to lobby MPs at Westminster and urge them to oppose the government’s plans to cut grants and to confront the crisis of student debt and the impact it is having on the education system and society.
