Matt Horton was the latest USA student to spend a year of study at St Mary’s through the Irish-American Scholar programme. Matt is a student at St Anselm’s College in Manchester, New Hampshire. At St Mary’s he took courses in history and education as well as participating in a school placement. He was sad to leave Belfast and the friends he made here, both in the College and in the local community.


During his time in St Mary’s, Matt established friendships with many of the visiting Erasmus students and later caught up with some of them in Poland and the Netherlands. He said that St Mary’s was a particularly friendly place for international students.
