St Mary’s Hosts Open Days

27 September 2016

“We received a warm welcome, and the day was very informative. Thanks!”

“Love the University—so welcoming and everyone is so friendly and helpful—overall a great experience.”
“Very well organised, good structure to the day.”

Above are some of the comments received during our annual College Open Days on the 13th and 14th September. Almost 700 prospective students representing seventy different post-primary schools visited over the two days. Talks were offered on the BEd (Hons) Primary and the BEd (Hons) Post-Primary teaching degree programmes, as well as the BA (Hons) Liberal Arts degree programme. There was also helpful advice on the application process and preparing for the BEd interview.

Visiting students had an opportunity to meet with both College staff and current students. Maria Mooney, newly elected President of the Students’ Union for the academic year 2016-17, gave a short talk on her own experience of student life—the studies and the craic! During the campus tours, led by student ambassadors, the visitors also were able to see, first-hand, the College’s many facilities.

The tour included a visit to the College Library, the Writing Centre, the Careers Guidance Centre, the ICT Open Access Suite, the Chapel, the Performance Enhancement Centre/Sports Hall and, of course, the Students’ Union and the Student Centre.

Tour guides were excellent. Very Informative on accommodation, student life— answered
every question—a great experience.”

“Our tour guides were very friendly and helpful. I had a rewarding day. Thank you!”
