Teacher Education Group

21 November 2016

On Thursday, 17 November St Mary’s hosted the Teacher Education Group. This research group is comprised of a number of authorities in Teacher Education from across the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland. They share an interest in comparative analyses of wide-ranging issues in Teacher Education across national and international borders. Most recently, they published a book together entitled “Teacher Education in Times of Change” (2015). In September of this year, they presented updates on this publication at the British Education Research Association’s annual conference in Leeds.

Two of the members in attendance gave talks to St Mary’s staff. The first was Dr Aileen Kennedy from the University of Edinburgh who spoke about “Interrogating CPD Policy at a National Level”. The second speaker was Mr Trevor Mutton from Oxford University whose presentation was entitled “Deconstructing the Carter Review: Competing Conceptions of Quality in England’s ‘School-Led’ System of Initial Teacher Education”.
