Students Visit Glasnevin Cemetery

25 January 2017

Students from St Mary’s University College visited Glasnevin Cemetery last week. Year 2 Liberal Arts students gave a presentation in Irish at various graves that they had chosen as part of their module in effective communication.

Eaman de Valera, Arthur Griffiths, Michael Collins and Maude Gonne McBride were among the graves chosen. Paddy Gleeson, who is a guide in Glasnevin, was with the group, and he praised the students on the research they had done and on their spoken Irish.

This is the first time that third-level students gave presentations at the graves in Glasnevin, and we hope to build on this initiative in the future.

Thug mic léinn ó Choláiste Ollscoile Naomh Muire cuairt ar reilig Ghlas Naíon an tseachtain seo caite. Rinne na mic leinn sna saorealaíona sa dara bliain cur i láthair as Gaeilge ag uaigheanna éagsúla a bhí roghnaithe acu mar chuid den chumarsáid éifeachtach sa mhodúl 2052. Bhí Eaman de Valera, Arthur Griffiths, Michael Collins agus Maude Gonne Mc Bride i measc na n-uaigheanna a roghnaíodh. Bhí Paddy Gleeson atá ina threoraí i nGlas Naíon linn agus mhol sé na mic léinn as an taighde a bhí déanta acu agus as a gcuid Gaeilge. Is é seo an chead uair a thug mic léinn tríú leibhéal léacht ag na huaigheanna i nGlas Naíon agus tá súil againn go dtig linn tógáil ar an tionscnamh.
