At the end of each intervarsity season in Gaelic football, the GAA selects a panel in both football and hurling which recognises the highest level of achievement for the players.

In the past, the panel was entitled "Combined Universities", today it is the "Rising Stars".

In the announcement of the 2017 Rising Stars, St Mary’s is delighted to have seven players in the fifteen-man football team.
