The International Office at St Mary’s University College, in partnership with Africa House (NI) and the Sudanese Youth Club, hosted an award ceremony recently for African students living in Belfast who have completed GCSEs and A Levels. Students were given trophies and medals for successfully getting through to this stage of their education. Many of the students had studied subjects with English as their third or fourth language.

The ceremony was addressed by Dr Manal Hassen, Chair of Africa House (NI), Dr Gerard McCann, Senior Lecturer in International Studies and Mr Israel Eguaogie from the Nigerian Community Northern Ireland (NICONI). The evening concluded with Sudanese music, dancing and African cuisine.
