Primary 5 pupils from a local Irish-Medium school, Gaelscoil na bhFál, visited St Mary’s University College recently to take part in Art workshops. They were hosted by students from the Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) Primary IME programme, who delivered exciting Art workshops as part of the “Perspectives on the Primary Curriculum” module.
The PGCE students had created some stimulating learning opportunities to inspire and engage the children and gave them the opportunity to experience techniques and processes in a wide variety of 2D and 3D mediums, including printing, felt making, clay work and 3D construction. The enjoyment was evident on the faces of the children, who engaged so willingly and enthusiastically. Children spoke positively about their work and how proud they were of their efforts.
This annual event has become a highlight in the PGCE calendar, giving students the opportunity to put theory into practice with the help of very willing participants, their teachers and support staff. All involved in St Mary's are very grateful to the staff and pupils at Gaelscoil na bhFál and hope to see them again next year.

Phleanáil na mic léinn réimse gníomhaíochtaí chun na páistí a spreagadh agus chun suim san Ealaín a mhúscailt iontu. Tugadh deis do na daltaí réimse straitéisí ealaíne a thriail, priontáil agus tógail 3T ina measc. Ba léir gur bhain na daltaí an-sult agus an-tairbhe as an cheardlann. D’oibrigh siad go fonnmhar díograiseach, agus labhair siad go dearfach faoi na heispéiris a bhí acu.
Tugann an ocáid bhliaintiúil seo deis do mhic léinn nasc soiléir a dhéanamh idir teoiric agus cleachtas. Gabhaimid buíochas ó chrói le foireann agus le daltaí Ghaelscoil na bhFál, agus tá muid ag dúil go mór bheith ag obair leo uilig arís gan mhoill.
