It is coming near to the time when the St Mary's University College Liberal Arts final year undergraduates will be applying for jobs and, needless to say, many of them will have aspirations towards obtaining employment at graduate entry level.
The Careers office and AoN (Application of Number) centre have organised a simulated assessment day, the purposes of which will be to allow our undergraduates to gain experience of what a real-life graduate recruitment interview/assessment process entails.
This assessment day has been endorsed by Business in The Community (BITC).
The selection panel will be headed up by Mr Steven Costello MBE, former Chief Executive of Marks and Spencer (NI), present Chairman of the Northern Ireland Consumer Council and Chairman of the Board of Governors of Stranmillis University College.
The simulated assessment day will be held on Monday 5 February 2007 in St Mary's University College and the following students will be participating:
- Orla Donnelly (BA3);
- Harry Jones (BA3);
- Briege McAnespie (BA3);
- Michelle McNally (BA2);
- Eileen McKeown (BA3);
- Kirstie McLennan (BA3);
- Paul McNeil (BA3);
- David Porter (BA3).
The participating undergraduates will follow the normal application/interview procedures as would be taken by applicants being interviewed and assessed for a graduate level position.
The schedule will be as follows:
- Formal application to be completed for advertised post;
- Psychometric testing (Numerical reasoning);
- Psychometric testing (Verbal reasoning);
- Formal interview;
- Role-play;
- Announcement of successful applicant;
- Feedback to all applicants.
