With over seventy debates and exhibitions as well as forty five visual arts exhibitions Féile 30 proved to be the biggest and best ever community festival at the College.
St Mary’s University College welcomed over twenty thousand visitors to the campus during the Féile.
One of the first debates and discussions was chaired by Senior Tutor, Dr Gabrielle Nig Uidhir. On Friday, 3 August Gabrielle led a vibrant discussion on Irish-medium education. Panellists on the day were Pádraig Mac Cathail (Coláiste Feirste teacher), Máiréad Mhic Uait (Áisaonad Education Officer), Muireann Uí Mhóráin (Chief Executive of Chomhairle um Oideachas Gaeltachta & Gaelscolaíochta COGG) and Séamas Ó Tuama (Principal of Bunscoil Phobal Feirste).
The College Hall was packed on numerous occasions for high profile events in the fields of politics, human rights and justice. The College Principal, Professor Peter Finn KSG said,
“St Mary’s is committed to community engagement in its mission statement and our partnership with Féile enables the kind of dialogue which reflects the social responsibility of university institutions. The College is most grateful to its support staff for ensuring a successful Féile at the St Mary’s campus.”
