Dr Gerard McCann, Dr Eibhlín Mhic Aoidh and Professor Peter Finn, KSG
Dr Eibhlín Mhic Aoidh, Senior Lecturer at St Mary's, travelled to Krosno in Poland to receive the award of Excellence in International Partnership on behalf of the College from Professor Grzegorz Władysław Przebinda, Rector of Stanisław Pigoń State College in Krosno and Professor of the Jagiellonian University, Krakow.
The awards ceremony was part of the twentieth-anniversary celebration at Krosno College at which St Mary's was given a particular mention. The events were also attended by the Polish Deputy Prime Minister, Dr Jaroslaw Gowin, minister of science and higher education. The ceremony was presided over by Professor Wladek Witalisz, vice-rector, and long-standing colleague of St Mary's.
The presentation of awards was included in the celebrated Krosno International Youth Festival which takes place each May and attracts university students and performing youth groups from around the world.
Dr Gerard McCann, who is coordinator for International Programmes at St Mary’s and has worked with universities from across Eastern Europe for many years, commented:
"This is an immense honour for the College and celebrates many years of student and staff exchanges, research partnerships and collaborative, intensive programmmes. Our thanks go particularly to our colleagues and partners in Krosno College and in the Jagiellonian University in Krakow for nominating us for this prestigious award."
Dr Eibhlín Mhic Aoidh receives the award from Professor Grzegorz Władysław Przebinda, Rector of Stanisław Pigoń State College in Krosno and Professor of the Jagiellonian University, Krakow.
