4 April 2011

International Week 4th - 8th April 2011

St. Mary's is currently hosting its sixth annual International Week – the biggest to date since its inception with over 200 attendees.

Entitled “Fusion Education”, it comprises a programme of lectures, seminars, practicals and demonstrations on many aspects of education. It is being delivered by twenty-six academic tutors from universities and colleges in the Netherlands, England, Ireland, Austria, Belgium, Germany, Slovakia, Cyprus, the USA, Poland and Denmark. Over eighty students are attending from all over Europe and the USA. In addition, a group of Israeli and Arab students from the David Yellin College of Education in Jerusalem are also attending.

The International Week has cultural and social events such as a quiz night, an international Food Night, a trip to the Giant’s Causeway and a Eurovision Talent Contest! Paul Anthony International Coordinator and organiser of the Week said:

“The continuing high numbers attending our International Week demonstrate that St Mary’s University College is a highly valued provider in the education of teachers, not only here but abroad as well. This is a sharing of practice, with students as well as staff showcasing their work in an informal yet invigorating atmosphere. The week is so popular that requests to attend next year have already been received.”
