Erasmus students visit Hillsborough

8 April 2013

The Erasmus students went on a tour of Georgian Ulster, visiting the towns of Lisburn with its Linen Museum and French-style gardens, and then going on to Hillsborough. At Hillsborough the students were given a guided tour and talk at the old Market House and Court, which date from the 1780s. They also visited the Fort and St Malachy's Church, before a trip to one of the town's historic pubs.

The Fort is where the Williamite army gathered prior to the Battle of the Boyne in July 1690, and was of particular interest to the Dutch students.
