Tools for Solidarity

18 October 2016

On Monday, 27 September St Mary’s University College hosted a presentation by Damian Chang'a, Mwanza Regional Manager of Small Industries Development Organisation (SIDO). Belfast and Downpatrick based charity Tools For Solidarity courtesy of Disability Aid Abroad organised the event.

Those in attendance heard first-hand about the impact that the Mwanza Sewing and Training Centre (MSTC) — a joint project between SIDO and TFS — has had on tailors living around Lake Victoria, how they have improved their tailoring skills through training delivered at the MSTC and how, with high-quality sewing machines sent from Belfast, they have been able to increase their income-generating capacity, thus “sewing” the seed of development.
