Dymphna Clenaghan, who graduated during the summer with a BEd First Class Honours degree, was presented with the Merrimack Fine Arts Award for 2015-2016 during a ceremony in the Art Department on Thursday, 27 October.

The Merrimack Cup, donated by Merrimack College in North Andover, Massachusetts, has been presented annually since 2002 to a graduate who has demonstrated high levels of creativity in their work and made an outstanding contribution to the Art Department.


Dymphna is presently teaching in Christ the Redeemer Primary School in Dunmurry, and during her return visit to the Art Department on Thursday she spoke to third-year students about life after St Mary’s and the joys and challenges of a beginning teacher.
