International Week in the Geography Department 8 – 12 May 2006

10 May 2006

This week, to coincide with Europe Day, the international dimension of St Mary's Geography Department is centre stage. From Monday 8 May, we hosted a group of twenty students from Windesheim University in The Netherlands and, for the fourth year in succession, they joined our students in classes. Their tutor, Dr Lex Stomp, will led a seminar on the way in which education is adapting to contemporary social and economic change in The Netherlands. This issue may surface again during the seminar which The Geography Society has arranged for Thursday 11 May at 12.45pm in R154. The theme is the Polish community in Northern Ireland and will be led by the local Polish priest, Fr Marius. Midweek, Dr Susan Pitchford and her students from the University of Washington at Seattle join us as part of the continuing Project ‘Identity, Memory, Conflict and Reconciliation', a project on Divided Cities. For further information please send an e-mail to Dr Margaret Keane or Tel: 02890 268209.
