Student Experience

Gaelic Games at St Mary's

Gaelic games are very popular with students at St Mary’s and there are teams for football (men and women), hurling and camogie.

The games are part and parcel of the St Mary’s tradition of community and togetherness and they are a significant aspect, for many, of the student experience.

Playing gaelic games at St Mary’s offers students the opportunity to work with some of the top coaches in Ulster, as well as playing with and against some of the best up and coming talent in the country.

In addition to playing the games, students become involved in club administration and help organise social and cultural events.

Gaelic games at St Mary’s has made a significant contribution to the GAA in the province of Ulster over many decades. This contribution is manifest in hundreds of volunteer coaches, players, referees and administration. The greatest contribution however has been to provide thousands of teachers who are well educated to develop the games in schools.
