Business Studies

Short Description

I am Course Team Leader for Business Studies. As Senior Lecturer in the Business Studies department I am engaged in developing, teaching and examining various Business areas, such as, Marketing, Market Research, Financial & Management Accounting, Financial Management, Entrepreneurship, Growth of SMEs and Management Accounting on both the B.Ed and B.A. programmes. I supervise BEd 4 Capstone Projects.

In addition I teach Subject Applications to the B.Ed students which I enjoy immensely. I have the privilege of mentoring a cohort of students while on School Based Experience. While engaging in both these activities I draw on my 23 years experience as a Deputy Head of School, ETI Associate Assessor, Teacher Tutor for PGCE, Teaching Learning Advisor, Lecturer, Coordinator and CCEA A Level Examiner.

Current Research

I completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Strategic Leadership and Management this included modules in Professional Development for Strategic Managers, Strategic Change Management, Managing Financial Principles & Techniques, Strategic Human Resource Management, Developing Strategic Management & Leadership Skills, Strategic Marketing Management, Creative Innovative Management & Strategic Planning. There was a strong research element within these modules.(2016).

I have a MSc in Education (ICT) (2009), unpublished theses: Engagement on an ECDL Programme enhances employability skills, opportunities and promotes lifelong learning.

My current research interests relate to Teacher Education, Entrepreneurship, SME’s, Continuous Improvement and Innovation in the classroom environment.
